What is diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea is an increase in the normal frequency of defectation or a change of consistency into a more liquid form.

What causes diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea is caused by increased activity of the intestinal muscles (tummy aches) causing a rapid passage of the intestinal content. Consequently, water is not absorbed in sufficient amounts making the stools liquid. The most common cause of diarrhoea is viral or bacterial infection, some drugs, poisons and stress situations.
