Sociedad española de patología digestiva :
Digestive pathology was a branch of medicine until 1933. It was originally developed by true specialists on the subject who worked at private clinics, private consultation offices, hospitals or even schools, with no valid exchange of information amongst these practitioners. This was the case until congresses on the specialty began to be held, both at a national and at an international level. It is precisely at one of these congresses, after the closing ceremony of the II National Congress on Digestive Pathology held in Barcelona in December 1933, that the idea of creating a Society came to light as a result of an initiative promoted by the “Gallart Monés School of Pathology”. The creation of such Society served as a nexus for all the specialists whose common aim was the advance of the specialty.
Sociedad Española de Endoscopia Digestiva :
The “Sociedad Española de Endoscopia Digestiva” (Spanish Society of Digestive Endoscopy), previously known as the “Spanish Association of Digestive Endoscopy” , is a non lucrative society created with the aim of bringing together people and institutions interested in digestive endoscopy in all its aspects, including healthcare provision, teaching and research activities as well as any other similar processes (echoendoscopy, endoscopic capsule, and other future techniques). The duration of the Society is unlimited, with a scope of action that includes the national territory. It is governed under the applicable currently in force Law of Societies and additional norms and regulations. The Society has its headquarters at 69, Francisco Silvela, 2ºC. Madrid.
