or the first time ever, the birth of twins without a hereditary predisposition to develop colorectal cancer, passed on by one of the progenitors, has been achieved thanks to a new genetic testing technique developed jointly by the Puigvert Foundation at Hospital Sant Pau and the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona).

Researchers from IMIM, Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute, in BArcelona have succeeded in determining the function of a new variant of enzyme IKKalpha (IKKα) to activate some of the genes that take part in tumor progression of colorectal cancer.
